Hello Friends –
We're making it easy for you to give living gifts this year. We've got lovely things for everyone on your list.
Few things are as rewarding as giving something you made with your own hands, and we're making it easy for you to do that, too. If you are ready to get crafty, we've got DIY demonstrations to arm you with all the inspiration and skills you need to create beautiful living gifts.
Succulent Wreaths

Every year we sell out of these intricate living wreaths before Christmas. Please come into the store soon if you would like one for yourself or to give. Unfortunately we cannot ship them.
How to Grow a Succulent Ornament
Our new Succulent Ornament comes with a succulent cutting! It's ready for instant tree decorating right out of the box. But its life as an ornament is just a prelude to a second life as a thriving plant in its own pot.

These two succulent plants started life as Succulent Ornaments.
Look how they've grown!

Place the container on a bright windowsill, or, if you live in a mild climate like San Francisco's, in a bright but not too sunny spot outdoors. By next holiday season, you'll be able to make cuttings for your ornament from last year's plant!
Living Gifts: Succulent Craft with Patrick Lannan
Saturday, December 10, 11am - 12pm

Learn to create living gifts and décor using succulents. Join us on Saturday, December 10, at 11am. Our garden-design specialist Patrick Lannan will show you how to create gifts like dish gardens and everlasting bouquets, otherworldly forest sculptures, terrariums and centerpieces. He'll discuss the nuts and bolts of using succulents in craft and the basics of succulent care.
Please RSVP and tell us how many in your party.
DIY Vertical Gardens Using Thigmotrope Satellite
Thigmotrope Satellite is a beautifully simple tool for creating vertical gardens on surfaces ranging from painted drywall and concrete to custom panels and wooden artifacts.

This Thigmotrope panel was created by Seth Boor,
who designed the Thigmotrope Satellite for us. It's magical how found objects adorned with live components become more than the sum of their parts – they verge on artwork. Come into the store and make your own. How's that for a living gift?

Come get inspired to create your own vertical garden with tillandsia air plants.
Made in the Bay Area and available only from Flora Grubb Gardens, Thigmotrope Satellites can be purchased in our Web Shop and sent anywhere in the US.

Thigmotrope Satellite is the easiest way to make a vertical garden indoors. Just screw it in the wall and your tillandsias have a stylish new home.
Thigmotrope Satellite is a steel tripod with a threaded base, designed to be a screw-in perch for tillandsia air plants. Thigmotrope Satellite enables you to expand the bounds of your gardening.

Living Gifts: Tillandsia Craft with Zenaida Sengo
Sunday, December 11, 11am - 12pm

Aerium ornaments can be purchased in our Web Shop
or come and learn how to make your own!
Create gifts and décor with tillandsia air plants. Join our expert in tillandsias, Zenaida Sengo, for a demonstration of all the cool things you can do with these exotic beauties. Because they need no soil, they can live in places (and on objects) few other plants can. Ideas include living sculpture, vertical gardens, and miniature living worlds. You'll also gain confidence in caring for these durable jungle dwellers.
Please RSVP and tell us how many in your party.
Aerium DIY Potting Bench

We have prepared a potting bench where you can make your own Aerium.
Come into the store to make your own living garden. We have all the raw materials in stock, like mossy branches, lichens, tillandsia air plants, and other forest jewels, and from them you can create your custom Aerium.
Aeriums are a great way to introduce your kids to gardening. With parents' help, kids can make their own Aerium gift to give to grandparents, teachers, and Mom or Dad.
We've got dozens of beautiful glass vessels that with your help will become a tiny enchanting living world. The Aerium Potting Bench will be open every day from December 7 to December 24, from 10am until closing.
Patrick Lannan's Cards

Patrick's watercolor of Aeonium 'Sunburst' is part of his new collection of note cards.
Our garden-design specialist, Patrick Lannan, is also a talented artist and painter. He has reproduced his latest series of gorgeous watercolors on note cards, available in the store and in our Web Shop.
He found his subjects – succulents, palms, aloes and agaves, trees, and manzanita bark – here at Flora Grubb Gardens, and around the San Francisco Bay Area. Use them for holiday greetings, notes throughout the year, or as accompaniments for gifts.
Ornament Mania

The ornaments we've brought in for you are deliriously adorable this year. We hope you'll make a trip to see the many charmingly crafted birds, animals, and sea creatures looking for you to adopt them. They're giving Cammy, our resident feline, a case of cuteness envy.
