We love a plant that never stops flowering. Cestrum elegans is an excellent tall, flowering shrub for the shade, producing ruby clusters most of the year on dark, velvety, evergreen wands of foliage. Some sun will suit it, too, especially in foggier districts, and few plants grow more quickly there. Set it in rich, moist soil and stand back! Takes well to hard pruning, but it won’t tolerate temperatures much below 28F.
