Oleander is drought-tolerant and can live quite happily on little or no water once it's established, though it'll grow more slowly and may not look as lush. To keep your oleander looking its blooming best, be sure to water it consistently and deeply while it's getting established, then after a few years give it a good deep soaking every couple of weeks. It will also be happy to have more water, provided the soil drainage is adequate. We have seen it in Greek habitat filling seasonally dry watercourses. | |

Notas de cultivo
This fast-growing shrub can be coppiced (cut to the ground) every few years to keep it a manageable size. Can also be pruned to a single trunk as a small patio tree. It will also grow into a billowing large shrub if left unpruned, nice as an informal hedge where space allows.
Will grow in chilly fog belt gardens but may be shy to bloom.
In cold-winter zones, may die back and regrow from the roots.
Do not burn oleander debris—inhaling the smoke is dangerous.
Salt- and coast-tolerant, though blooms better along the central and southern coast.
Interés especial
Some plants are mildly fragrant in bloom.
