Strong Starts: spend less, grow more workshop.

On March 28, Nan Sterman’s “Easy Seed Starting” workshop arrives at Flora Grubb Gardens, offering a hands-on extension of her widely followed seed-to-harvest course. Hosted from 10 AM to 2 PM, this in-person session is designed for gardeners of all levels, guiding participants through the full lifecycle of growing from seed—demystifying everything from soil prep and planting techniques to early care and transplanting. As part of her broader “Strong Starts” program, the workshop emphasizes practical, repeatable systems that help gardeners move beyond trial and error toward consistent, thriving results.

What makes this event particularly compelling is its tactile, immersive format. Rather than simply learning theory, attendees will leave with their own summer garden already seeded—vegetables, herbs, and flowers ready to sprout—along with the confidence to continue the process at home. Set within the lush, design-forward environment of Flora Grubb Gardens, the workshop creates a natural bridge between education and inspiration, grounding seasonal knowledge in a space that celebrates both plants and place. It’s a moment in the spring calendar that invites participants to slow down, get their hands in the soil, and begin the growing season with intention.
