Flora Grubb and Martha Stewart

Martha Stewart has been a wonderful supporter of our small business and an amazing role model for more than fifteen years. She is also as obsessed with plants as we are!

Her magazine first wrote about us in 2010. In 2012 she named Flora one of the very first Martha Stewart American Made honorees. Since then she has shopped our San Francisco store, written about us on her blog, featured Flora’s Berkeley garden in Martha Stewart Living, and come back to visit in 2026.

Here is that history, newest first.

    Martha comes back to visit

During Super Bowl week in February, Martha spent an afternoon at our San Francisco store with Flora and posted about it on Instagram. She went home with succulents for her farm in Bedford, New York, and wrote about potting them on her blog, calling Flora “one of our 2012 American Made Winners.”

“Well worth a visit and bring a big truck for all your purchases!!!”Martha, on Instagram

A few weeks later she told Time Out that Flora is “one of the best growers of tropical plants in California.”

Martha Stewart Living visited Flora’s Berkeley garden in its early years, a couple of years after she planted it.

  3. 2013

    Shopping in San Francisco

On a spring trip to San Francisco, Martha shopped “the fabulous Flora Grubb Gardens” and took home several unusual plants. Back at her farm she wrote about repotting them, and about a moss and wire creation for her greenhouse that started with something she bought from us.

    The first American Made Awards

In 2012 Martha started the American Made Awards to celebrate the makers, growers, and small businesses building things in America. Flora was one of the honorees in the very first year. She was profiled in Martha Stewart Living, filmed for Martha’s YouTube channel, and joined Martha on stage at the awards.

Martha also sent Flora a handwritten note:

“So glad you’re part of the inaugural American Made Awards!”Martha

A great find for the green thumb

Martha’s magazine put our wall bubble aerium in its December “Great Finds” gift guide, calling it “an enchanting mini-universe.”
