Exceptional Plants, Grown By Us
Explore our San Francisco and Los Angeles stores and you’ll see plants you cannot find at other local nurseries. That’s because we grew them ourselves!
We gather the most exciting climate-appropriate plants we can find and grow them in the sun-drenched hills of the Rainbow Valley in Southern California.
The Rainbow Valley is situated among the foothills between the Aqua Tibia Mountains and Santa Margarita Mountains. The valley is an ideal growing environment for ornamental plants.
The plants we grow ourselves are the best quality and the best value.

Our retail stores are named for Flora Grubb. Yes, Flora Grubb is a person, and Flora Grubb is her real name. Flora co-founded and co-owns Flora Grubb gardens with Saul Nadler. After many years of selling retail, Flora and Saul began growing plants. Our farms are called Grubb & Nadler. Saul oversees our skilled crew of nursery-people growing plants to Flora Grubb Gardens’ exacting standards.
Grubb & Nadler specializes in growing Australian, South African, and California natives for resilient landscapes, including exceptional Protea-family plants, cactus, succulents, palms, and other rare and unusual species that thrive in coastal California and throughout the West.
In addition to serving our two retail locations, Grubb & Nadler sells wholesale to designers, brokers, landscapers, municipalities, and retailers all over California and the West, with a special focus on Arizona.
Grubb & Nadler was recently featured in Sunset Magazine. We’re so honored to be featured in this spread, with photos of the nurseries, our hardworking team, and some of our favorite houseplant selections.
