Growing Notes
Plant in quick draining soil in full sun or light afternoon shade along the coast. Like almost all Protea family members, grevilleas have specialized proteoid root systems that absorb nutrients efficiently from poor soils; never use standard fertilizers containing phosphorus, which can quickly turn the foliage yellow and kill the shrub.
Tip prune lightly after a flush of bloom to keep the habit dense, bushy, and compact. Avoid cutting back into old, bare wood.
Special Interest
Bred in Western Australia at Kings Park and Botanic Garden as part of their celebrated native plant breeding program. Hummingbirds and native bees treat the nectar-rich flower clusters like an open buffet.
