Big news for LA plant lovers! Flora Grubb Gardens in San Francisco, a celebrated destination for California gardeners for 20 years, has opened a second location in Marina del Rey.

Flora Grubb Gardens in LA is now open daily from 9am to 6pm at 13198 Mindanao Way, with more than two acres of gorgeous plants and pottery.

Flora Grubb (yes, that’s her real name!) and her co-owner, Saul Nadler, grow most of their own plants at their beautiful wholesale nursery, Grubb & Nadler, in San Diego County. For years they’ve been selling to retail nurseries around LA, where gardeners are hungry for the rare and exceptional drought-tolerant plants that define Flora’s vision of the California garden.

Last year, Flora Grubb Gardens purchased Marina del Rey Garden Center, which has served the community since 1977. In recent years, as the garden center became more focused on sustainable gardening, they began buying plants from Grubb & Nadler. When Flora heard they were ready to pass the nursery on to a new owner, she was thrilled.

The Flora Grubb team has been working hard to transform the two-acre nursery, updating the infrastructure, planting lots of trees, and creating lush displays with plants and pottery. After a few unexpected rain delays, Flora Grubb Gardens is now welcoming LA customers!

At Flora Grubb Gardens, the goal is to help customers become successful gardeners. Today, that includes a commitment to living gently on the planet and ensuring that your little slice of paradise supports the resilience of the local ecosystem. Coastal Californians see their gardens as a way to enjoy their lives outdoors and build ecological resilience in the places they love.

The plants at Flora Grubb are chosen for their minimal need for water and chemical input, their usefulness to pollinators, and of course their natural beauty. For novices, the FGG team offers expert guidance in navigating this well-curated selection of plants. For more experienced gardeners, they carry an unrivaled collection of rare and unusual drought-tolerant plants, along with all the necessary building blocks to create lavishly beautiful, ecologically resilient landscapes.
