Leucadendrons at Their Loveliest

Flora Grubb Gardens nurseries in San Francisco and Marina del Rey are always stocked with a rainbow of different varieties of Leucadendron ready to come home with you! These plants show vibrant color throughout the year, even in winter.

Leucadendron ‘Red Eye’ (foreground above, below) creates an airy drift of sculptural flowers.

Charming candy-striped Leucadendron 'Jester' is glowing with pink leaf color. This leggy plant looks beautiful paired with exotic grevilleas, which are also in bloom right now.

Leucadendron 'Safari Sunset' is a reliably fast grower that puts on a dramatic show of crimson most of the year, but especially in winter. A great plant for drought-tolerant privacy screening.

Some leucadendrons look positively metallic, with a gentle sheen that catches the sunlight. Leucadendron 'Safari Goldstrike' (above left) has rose gold leaf tips, while dark and moody Leucadendron 'Ebony' (above right and below) has a burnt copper look.

We love the playful cones on Leucadendron 'Jubliee Crown,' which looks almost like a conifer but needs much less water to thrive.

Leucadendron ‘Hawaii Magic’ glows with a range of dreamy and dramatic hues.

We grow all of these leucadendrons—and so many other protea-family plants!—down at our fields at Grubb and Nadler in the Rainbow Valley. If you're a plant or garden pro, you can learn more about our wholesale nurseries here.

All the leucadendrons featured here are frequently in stock at Flora Grubb Gardens nurseries in San Francisco and Los Angeles. These are low-maintenance, low-water plants, perfect to consider as we head into the drier months. Visit us soon and choose some to bring home to your garden!
